So the girl dressed up as a goddess she admires. God forbid we admire other cultures.
Honestly, people take the cultural appropriation thing way too far.
That’d be like me telling a black girl she can’t dress up as Aphrodite because she’s not Greek and it’s just offensive.

A goddess from a religion she is not a part of nor from a culture she is a part of. This is blatant cultural appropriation?? Like I don’t understand what your definition of appropriation is because clearly ours doesn’t seem to match. “That’d be like me telling a black girl she can’t dress up as Aphrodite because she’s not Greek” Wow okay you just compared a RELIGION to fucking mythology. As a Hindu yes I do believe that it is in my place to be upset when someone not a part of my religion or culture decides to use the beauty of my goddess as a means to play dress up. Even Hindus themselves don’t dress up as gods or goddesses unless it’s for a festival or a play. There’s a difference between admiring a culture and appropriating it. My boyfriend loves hearing stories about my religion and cultures and learning about the meaning behind specific symbols. He even admires the aesthetics and traditions. However he doesn’t go around dressing up as gods or tattoo the om symbol onto his body? If you’re not a part of a religion or culture please don’t try to partake or replicate any aspect of them. It’s not your place to do so. For example as a Bengali Hindu, if I went around dressing up as Jesus or decided to go out and have a photo shoot dressed up as Mary, people would probably find it a bit unsettling. This display doesn’t teach anyone anything. No one learned about Kali from the photo Willow posted. There was no point to it. It was nothing short of appropriation.

Polish doctor that refused to perform abortion named a “hero”
Dr Bogdan Chazan was visited by an expecting mother (32 weeks into pregnancy), who already had 5 miscarriages before and was worried about her health. It turned out that the fetus had hydrocephalus, undeveloped brain and was missing many bones from its skull. The Doctor refused to perform an abortion and didn’t send the woman to another hospital which could do so (according to polish law, if a doctor doesn’t want to perform an abortion, he has to choose another hospital which will agree to do so). Chazan was named a “local hero” and “true warrior of Jesus in the name of life of the unborn” by many polish politicians and catholic activists. He used conscience clause as an excuse for his actions.
The woman gave birth to the child through a C-section. She and her husband spent 10 painful days watching their deformed child die a horrible death. When she finally decided to speak out, she said:
“During these 10 days, no priest, no pro life activist or even dr Chazan came to see the child, to ask if they can help. It was really hard to look at our child. We knew what was coming, but it was still very hard to cope with”
Congratulations, pro-lifers - another “life” saved, another “happy” child and “happy” family.
